Mel began his professional career in the financial services industry in 1972. He has focused his career on working with high net worth professionals, business owners and executives. In his practice, Mel develops tax-advantaged* strategies for his clients in the areas of wealth accumulation, executive benefits, employee benefits, retirement planning and estate conservation. Mel works with a network of other professionals that enhance the high quality of service he is already able to deliver to his clients.
During Mel's industry tenure, he has become an accredited speaker for a variety of educational workshops. These workshops are delivered at numerous corporations in the Silicon Valley as a form of worksite education. Mel consistently receives positive feedback and high ratings from employees on his presentations.
Mel is also a Special Needs Planner who provides educational workshops and sessions for families with dependents with Special Needs. As a past president of the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council, he has a established a vast network of attorneys, CPAs, trust offices and others professional who provide his special needs clients with the level of expertise they deserve.
Mel has been an active leader in his industry. He is a Past President of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA - Silicon Valley), the San Jose Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP), and the San Jose Chapter of the General Agents & Managers Association (GAMA). He recently completed his tenure as President of the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council (SCC-EPC). While President of NAIFA - Silicon Valley, he received the NAIFA Association Achievement Award. Also during that tenure, he received from NAIFA - California, the California President's Trophy. As President of the San Jose Chapter of GAMA, Mel received the National GAMA's Chapter Achievement Award. Mel continues to be an active member of numerous industry groups.
Mel is a graduate of San Jose State University. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the U.S. Army where he attained a rank of Major before exiting. He later received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations from the American College. Mel has been an active member of his community. He has volunteered time serving the Special Olympics and he coached youth sports for many years, including youth soccer and girls fast pitch softball at the high school level. Mel is married, has two grown children and resides in San Jose, California.
