MetLife Center for Special Needs Planning is the new name for MetLife’s Division of Estate Planning for Special Kids.It better reflects what our National Vision is as well as communicates our intent to the community in a clearer fashion.
Mel has been an accredited member of the Center for Special Needs Planning for 10 years. He was recently appointed to the National Advisors Panel of the Center for Special Needs Planning. He works with other specialists advising the Center concerning the special and unique issues being addressed by this National group of specialists.
Mel has been appointed to the Palmer College Charitable Giving Advisory Panel. He will advise Palmer College Graduates and others concerning their options for Estate and Personal Planning as well as gifting options to Palmer College.
Mel has been recently elected to be Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Santa Clara Estate Planning Council. The Council promotes knowledge and interest in Estate Planning and related subjects.
The forum is comprised of members with Estate Planning expertise in the following disciplines: Attorneys, CPAs, Life Underwriters, Trust Officers and other Estate Planning professionals. Each member must maintain membership minimum criteria to continue membership in the group. Mel has been a member since 1983.
The NODCC (National Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Callosum) recently held its National Conference at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel. Mel was a featured speaker for two Educational Workshops addressing Special Needs Planning including information about Social Security, Financial Planning as well as Conservatorships and Guardianships.
Mel was a featured speaker at the Abilities Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. He addressed the issues concerning Families with Special Needs Dependents. He has already been requested to speak again at this annual event in the Silicon Valley. He has also been a featured speaker at 5-Minus Foundation, Mobius Foundation, City of Irvine and numerous Unified School Districts, support agencies and groups supporting families with dependents with Special Needs.
