Mel began his professional career in the financial services industry in 1972. He focuses on working with high net worth professionals, business owners, their businesses, and executives. Mel, in his Financial Planning practice, develops tax-advantaged* planning for his clientele in the areas of wealth accumulation, executive benefits, employee benefits, retirement planning, and estate planning.Mel works with a network of other "top notch" professionals providing high quality service to his clientele.

Mel is a Special Needs Planner ® seminiar series a comprehensive educational retirement planning program for corporate employees. MetLife offers complimentary consultations to the attendees. These seminars address all aspects of Retirement Planning. The largest concerns of retiring Baby Boomers are how they can accumulate sufficient retirement assets, how they can create a guaranteed lifetime income, and how they can enjoy their retirement years. The retirewise® seminars provide the attendees with the answers to these questions. Most important, Mel provides consultations that allow atttendees to "know and not wonder" if they can achieve their retirement goals.

Mel is a recipient of the Jack Richter Memorial Award and the Richard S. Smith Meritorious Service Award. These awards are the highest recognitions given by his local professional trade organization. Mel is one of only five members who have received both recognitions in over 70 years of his association's history.

Mel has been active leader in his industry. He has been the President of NAIFA - Silicon Valley (National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors - Silicon Valley), San Jose Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP), and the San Jose Chapter of the General Agents & Managers Association (GAMA). While President of the NAIFA - Silicon Valley, he received the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA) Association Achievement Award. Also, during that tenure, he also received from NAIFA - California (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - California) the California President's Trophy. As President of the San Jose General Agents & Managers Association Chapter (GAMA), Mel received the National GAMA's Chapter Achievement Award. Mel currently is on the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Estate Planning Council (SCCEPC). Mel continues to be an active member of numerous industry groups. He is a member of NAIFA - Silicon Valley, NAIFA - California, and NAIFA. He is also a Member of the San Jose Chapter of the Society of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the National Society of Financial Service Professionals. Mel is also a member of the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council (SCCEPC).

Mel is a graduate of San Jose State University. Upon graduation, Mel was commissioned in the U.S. Army. He received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations from the American College. Mel has been an active volunteer in his community. In addition to his work with the Special Olympics mentioned earlier, he coached youth sports for many years, including youth soccer and girls fast pitch softball at the local high school. Mel is married and lives at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, California.
